Little Boxes Of Joy (box #3 Fabric)

On to the fabric portion of this box.

There were 3 rolls of ribbon and I stamped "Blessings" on one, "Dream" on another, and some flowers on the last. Each one is a little over 4 ft long. I had found the little butterfly napkin ring at one of the second hand shops in town. I remember these from my childhood. Does anybody else? They were in perfect condition and just the right size for holding something. Lucky find. Butterflies seem to be finding their way into these boxes.

The smallish linen bag needed some decoration, so I found some pieces in my leftovers jar that were still big enough . The bag was just the right size for this little notebook that I covered.

The jar is covered in a lacy trouser sock that I had originally bought to make fingerless gloves this winter. That project was a fail, so one ended up here, Perfect! I trimmed that with a thin teal blue ribbon: you can just barely see it when the lid is on, but it echoes the blue from the peacock. I painted the lid and embossed it with Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap's embossing powder and trimmed it with some of my vintage lace. I made what I thought was originally a flower for the center of the lid, and found this peacock from a costume jewelry ring in my stash. I love how the flower ended up looking like a nest once i put the peacock in it. In the jar went a burlap flower I had made a while back and some buttons, twine, a small butterfly I made and some flowers that i painted with some Tim Holtz paints. To wrap it up I used some fabric lace and a length of lace to tie it up.

I added some small pieces of burlap that had come in a pkg from 7 Gypsies and some glittered foam; I wrapped it in some of my favorite burlap (I used it to cover some seat cushions and 2 lampshades) and tied it with some tea stained gauze.

So that is it for the fabric portion of this box.
Next will be the flowers and then the rest of the paper.
So until next time
